UK Global Talent Visa endorsing bodies

The UK Global Talent Visa is endorsed by one of six bodies, grouped into three routes. The digital technology route is endorsed by Tech Nation (administration of the route transitioned under the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology from 2023). The academia and research route is split across four bodies: the Royal Society for natural and medical sciences, the British Academy for humanities and social sciences, the Royal Academy of Engineering for engineering and technology, and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) for named roles on eligible fellowships and grants. The arts and culture route is endorsed by Arts Council England.

Three of the six bodies offer a faster route to a decision: Tech Nation operates an optional fast-track of about three weeks, while UKRI and the Royal Society can endorse eligible fellowship and grant holders in around two weeks. The British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering and the standard academic peer-review route do not publish a fast-track, with the standard endorsement decision typically taking around eight weeks. The Stage 2 visa decision that follows endorsement usually takes a further three weeks.

Endorsing-body assignments and the existence of a fast-track are structural facts of the route, drawn from each body's published guidance and gov.uk. Fast-track durations are indicative published targets, not guarantees — actual times vary with caseload. This dataset deliberately omits per-body approval rates: the public statistics (Tech Nation reports, Home Office Immigration Statistics) do not break grants down per endorsing body in a citable way, so publishing such figures would mean inventing them.
