For researchers
named on a grant
from an endorsed UK funder.
UKRI administers the fastest academic endorsement path. If you're named on a grant from an approved UK funder and the grant is worth £30k+ over 2+ years (and you're committed at least 50% of your time to it), you skip peer review and get a decision in about 2 weeks. Works across all academic disciplines.
What your pack must include.
- Grant award letter from an UKRI-endorsed funder naming you as a named researcher / Co-I / PI
- Documentation proving the grant value is £30,000+ and runs for at least 2 years
- Statement from the employing institution (HR Director or equivalent) confirming your named role and time commitment
- Evidence you'll spend at least 50% of your working time on the endorsed grant
- CV demonstrating the research credentials that qualified you for the named role
The signals that actually score.
- ✦Clean, precise documentation from the correct authority — HR Director or research office letter, not a PI note
- ✦Fast-track eligibility is binary: meet the criteria exactly, and endorsement is near-automatic
- ✦Published record consistent with a named role on a competitive grant
- ✦Clear statement of how the 50% time commitment works alongside any other responsibilities
Where applications fail.
- ×Grant is from a non-endorsed funder — check the published UKRI list before applying
- ×Grant value or duration below threshold (£30k / 2 years)
- ×Documentation from the PI rather than institutional HR — easy fix but often missed
- ×Conditional offers or unsigned grants as evidence — must be finalised
- ×Time commitment under 50% — won't qualify even if other criteria met
