No — commercial success without critical recognition isn't the bar. ACE wants peer recognition, distinct artistic voice, and demonstrable influence on the field.

How many countries does the work need to have shown in?

Talent applicants need work shown in at least two countries; Promise applicants need at least one. Regional or single-country recognition alone isn't enough for Talent.

What weakens an arts personal statement?

Length without specifics — over-long statements that don't cite particular works, moments, or reviews. Reviewers want clear references to the strongest evidence in the pack.
